Role Overview: The Validation & Test Engineer is responsible for executing Verification and Validation tasks within the Train Control & Information Systems (TC&IS) department, tailored to one or multiple projects based on experience and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting verification of functional and software requirements specifications, software architecture, and detailed design specifications, encompassing all train functions (power, traction, braking, passenger access, etc.).
- Defining, executing, and documenting tests across various stages of the software development lifecycle (software component tests, integration tests, overall/functional tests) utilizing diverse testing platforms (PC, test bench, TrainLab).
- Establishing the testing environment, which includes defining the test bench, receiving the test bench, subsystem modeling (MIL/SIL), or integrating subsystems on the bench (HIL), along with test tools.
- Developing test automation and staying updated on testing tools.
- Participating in the formulation of the testing strategy and formalizing feedback for continuous improvement in collaboration with other Validation & Test Engineers and Leaders.
- Managing configuration of test deliverables, actively engaging in change management processes (bug reports, change requests), and tracking open issues within the scope of responsibility.
Collaboration: The Validation & Test Engineer will primarily interact with the project's Validation & Test Leader (V&TL), the design team (System & Control Engineers, integrators), the software quality engineer, and the RAMS engineer.
Reporting Structure: Functionally reports to the Validation & Test Leader and hierarchically to the Verification & Test Domain Leader (V&TDL).
Qualifications:
- Degree in Industrial IT/Automation with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Verification & Validation Software or Software Quality.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and synthesis skills.
- Solid understanding of system engineering principles across various sectors such as railway, aeronautics, and naval; experience in the railway sector is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the software development process (V-cycle) and software quality assurance.
- Knowledge of CENELEC standards EN50126, EN50129, EN50128, EN50657.
- Able to thrive in a matrix, multi-site, and international organizational structure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
