Newrest is seeking a highly skilled Facility Safety Specialist to join its team at the Houston hub unit. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the facility and ramp operations, working closely with other peers to maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all personnel perform their jobs in a safe manner, adhering to company policies and regulations, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Audit and Inspection: Conduct regular audits to ensure the safe performance of all equipment within the facility, including high-pile storage, forklifts, dish machines, cooking equipment, and chilling equipment.
- LOTO Process Management: Manage the Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) process where applicable, ensuring that all equipment is properly secured and safe to operate.
- Ramp Safety Audits: Conduct ramp safety audits as needed, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective measures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Training and Development: Coordinate facility safety training for all employees, ensuring that they are properly trained to use equipment and follow safety protocols.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition, performing regular checks and maintenance tasks as needed.
- Threat and Hazard Identification: Identify potential threats and hazards throughout the facility and implement corrective measures in collaboration with building maintenance personnel and other unit leadership.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all facility safety initiatives and training, ensuring that all documentation is up-to-date and compliant with company policies.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with leadership and other team members, providing regular shift reports and updates on safety initiatives.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma required; previous experience in facility safety preferred.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Certifications: OSHA 10 or 30 certification or two years of relevant experience.
- Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Airport Security Clearance: Must be able to pass airport security clearance and tests for a SIDA badge.
