We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join our team at Airbus Operations SAS in Toulouse, France. As a PhD researcher, you will be part of our Transient Dynamic Simulations department, working on impact studies on aircraft structures.

About the PhD Project:

The PhD project will focus on developing new integrated leading edge concepts with acoustic functions to improve their resistance to bird strike. You will study soft impacts on simply curved composite sandwich structures representative of air inlet leading edges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on composite materials and their manufacturing processes
  • Design and manufacture innovative cellular materials and meta-materials for energy absorption
  • Develop finite element models for dynamic explicit simulations
  • Perform static and dynamic experimental testing on composite structures
  • Identify the most influencing parameters of the leading edge concept for its bird strike resistance

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong background in composite materials, finite element modeling, and dynamic simulations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Fluency in English and French
