Customs Brokerage Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Brokerage Manager to join our team at Expeditors. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for developing and managing our customs product in the marketplace.
Key Responsibilities:- People:
- Train, motivate, and mentor other employees to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.
- Conduct annual reviews to identify areas for improvement and develop personal development plans to help employees achieve their goals.
- Identify and develop a strong team of leaders who can support and guide their colleagues.
- Ensure all staff have clear job descriptions, expectations, and structured development plans in place.
- Conduct regular interviews with potential new personnel to ensure they align with our company culture and values.
- Operations:
- Ensure all customs authorizations are valid and up-to-date, including transit guarantees, customer IPR/OPR/Warehousing authorizations.
- Monitor undischarged transit forms and duty deferment usage levels.
- Meet with local customs authorities to discuss performance, delays, and customs developments.
- Customer:
- Make regular calls to customers to ensure their needs are being met and to identify opportunities for growth.
- Ensure all new business is transitioned correctly and that customers are satisfied with our services.
- Finance:
- Follow up on customs guarantees and refunds with customs authorities.
- Review and analyze financial reports to identify areas for improvement.
- Compliance:
- Promote compliance with company policies and regulations, and ensure all employees understand their roles and responsibilities in this area.
- Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts.
- Culture:
- Proactively promote the company's cultural attributes, including appearance, attitude, confidence, and integrity.
- Systems:
- Promote the use of productivity tools, such as edoc and edoc treeview, customs database, and process management.
- Audit files in accordance with AEO standards.
- Minimum 3-5 years of customs brokerage experience, including at least 1-2 years in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of customs legislation, including classification, valuation, and origin.
- Good understanding of customs systems and processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
- 26 workdays from home per year.
