You will frequently engage with various digital libraries developed by Artelys, including continuous and mixed nonlinear programming (Artelys Knitro), constraint programming (Artelys Kalis), and energy systems optimization (Artelys Crystal Optimization Engine).

Your role will involve the development of innovative algorithmic features that integrate mathematics and computer science, while ensuring a high standard of software reliability and efficiency.

Depending on the nature of the projects, the solutions you develop may be categorized into three distinct frameworks:

  • Numerical and combinatorial optimization software created by Artelys, specifically Artelys Knitro, Artelys Kalis, Artelys Crystal Optimization Engine, or PowSyBl Open Load Flow
  • Computational modules tailored for our clients
  • Prototypes within collaborative research initiatives involving Artelys

To be considered an ideal candidate, you should possess a PhD in applied mathematics or operations research, or have equivalent experience of at least 3 years following an engineering degree or higher education qualification. Additionally, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Proficiency in Python or C/C++ programming languages
  • Expertise in various optimization techniques, including graph theory, continuous optimization algorithms, combinatorial optimization algorithms, and nonlinear optimization
  • Experience in designing and optimizing algorithms for high-performance computing (HPC) environments
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French is an advantage

The following skills would be advantageous:

  • Familiarity with software programming (Spring, BDD, NoSQL, REST/Microservices, Message queuing, etc.) and compilation
  • Proficiency in additional programming languages (MATLAB, R, Julia, Java, C#)
  • Knowledge of linear algebra tools, particularly methods for solving linear systems
  • Previous contributions to open-source projects related to numerical optimization, simulation, or computational science are highly valued, along with active participation in relevant communities and networks

You should be curious and enthusiastic, enjoying the challenge of complex problems and aspiring to develop high-performance, innovative software tools based on state-of-the-art mathematical methods. A strong commitment to rigor in your work is essential, as is a desire to foster a collaborative work environment that encourages skill development and initiative.

Working conditions:

  • Permanent contract with managerial status and a 4-month probationary period.
  • Possibility of up to 2 days of remote work per week.
  • Flexible working hours.

Recruitment process:

Step 1: An initial technical interview via video conference with two recruiters (45 minutes each).

Step 2: A second interview via video conference with two additional recruiters, along with a brief discussion with the CEO of Artelys (45 minutes).
