About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Studies Assistant to join our team at Aix-Marseille Université. As a key member of our mechanical team, you will be responsible for designing and developing opto-mechanical systems or subsystems for astronomy in UV, visible, and infrared domains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop technical solutions based on mechanical specifications.
  • Create complete or partial mechanical assembly drawings and parts lists.
  • Develop specific manufacturing and inspection requirements.
  • Manage the subcontracting of design drawings.
  • Implement and execute AIT tool assemblies.
  • Formulate and draft technical notes.
  • Lead the study of design validation models.
  • Control and oversee assembly phases.
  • Actively participate in mechanical assembly integrations for the HARMONI instrument.
  • Perform Material Strength calculations for preliminary part sizing.
  • Present and defend ideas within a project team.
  • Conduct dimensional part checks.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Mechanical Design degree and experience in managing mechanical assemblies. You should be able to create assembly drawings, develop manufacturing and inspection specifications, execute tool assemblies, and have strong attention to detail and communication skills.
