Position Overview
Southern Health-Santé Sud is in search of a dynamic and driven individual for the role of Nurse Practitioner. Reporting directly to the Manager of Health Services – Primary Care Clinics West, the Nurse Practitioner utilizes advanced nursing and medical principles to deliver clinical care. This includes the autonomous ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests, management of pharmacological treatments, and execution of minor invasive procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The Nurse Practitioner is accountable for providing both primary and consultative care to individuals and specific populations, adhering to evidence-based practices and advanced nursing methodologies. The role involves implementing health promotion strategies and preventive measures against illness.
The incumbent is expected to exercise a high degree of initiative and independent judgment in establishing work priorities, selecting appropriate work methods, and addressing atypical situations. This position operates in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health-Santé Sud, as well as its established policies.
Qualifications
- Fluency in both official languages is essential (English/French).
- Active practicing membership on the RN Extended Practice (EP) Register of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Comprehensive knowledge of advanced nursing care related to health assessments, diagnostics, pharmacotherapeutics, and minor surgical procedures.
- A minimum of five (5) years of recent clinical nursing experience, preferably in a primary care environment.
- Experience in cross-sector collaboration and program linkage is considered an asset.
- Recent experience in primary care with a focus on health education, promotion, and chronic disease management is advantageous.
- Proven communication and leadership capabilities.
- Strong conceptual, interpersonal, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to adapt swiftly to changing circumstances and thrive in a challenging environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently.
- Proficient in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience with electronic medical records and electronic health records is an asset.
