Position Overview
The Global Pricing division is integral in providing oversight and governance to the pricing activities within SCOR L&H macro-markets, as well as collaborating with corporate functions such as Finance, particularly concerning internal retrocession operations. The team is tasked with establishing pricing methodologies and assumptions, disseminating expertise, ensuring adherence to best practices, and maintaining quality controls while aligning with broader Business Unit strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in making informed business acceptance decisions for complex pricing cases, which typically involve larger or novel risks associated with Protection, Longevity, or Financial Solutions.
- Provide expert guidance to local pricing teams on various technical matters.
- Support the Global Pricing team in evaluating the pricing of internal retrocessions among SCOR entities, focusing on fairness in pricing assumptions and treatment.
- Collaborate with local pricing teams to ensure that the development of core pricing assumptions and guidelines is suitable for application in pricing exercises.
- Engage with research functions to create best estimate pricing assumptions across a spectrum of life reinsurance risks, ensuring alignment with Risk and Underwriting teams.
- Contribute to enhancing the pricing tool infrastructure, aiming to minimize reliance on multiple Excel tools, many of which are managed by local pricing teams. This includes participating in initiatives to develop solutions using Python.
- Maintain and advance the development of shared pricing tools utilized across various markets, particularly those of a non-proportional nature, in preparation for their transition to Python.
- Support the enhancement of operational risk standards within the Life pricing function through tool development and other initiatives.
Collaboration and Review
- Contribute to the official stance of the Pricing Function on referred deals and collaborate with Underwriting Risk Management to formulate a business acceptance perspective.
- Participate in the organization and refinement of the Global Referral process in conjunction with Underwriting Risk Management.
- Review internal retrocessions from both a Global pricing perspective and a SCOR SE perspective to ensure compliance with established pricing methodologies.
Python Development and Tool Ownership
- Develop Python tools to facilitate platform development and establish a unified framework for implementing pricing tools across the organization.
- Assist local teams in the development of specific pricing tools utilizing the platform.
- Support the transition of this project from a pilot in a single market to broader implementation.
- Promote the adoption of Python throughout the pricing function.
- Collaborate with IT to ensure necessary infrastructure support for platform and tool development.
Operational Risk Standards
- Contribute to the development and implementation of pricing guidelines related to model construction and testing.
- Engage in various operational risk initiatives, including model reviews.
General Contributions
- Actively participate in the cross-review pricing workstream as required.
- Provide assistance to local teams as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a pricing actuary, with international exposure being advantageous.
- Expertise in model development.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an international context with cross-team collaboration.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience.
