About the Position:
The American University of Paris invites applications for a permanent full-time position in the Department of Psychology, Health and Gender at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning in the upcoming academic year. We seek a generalist in psychology with expertise in developmental psychology, who can demonstrate qualitative and quantitative competency, and bring a critical, socially relevant, and culturally sensitive research and teaching perspective.
Responsibilities:
- Teach core psychology courses, including Introduction to Psychology and Understanding Human Development
- Develop and teach courses in developmental psychology across the lifespan (infancy to older adults)
- Contribute to the departments major in Gender, Sexuality, and Society
- Participate in faculty governance, including attending full faculty, department, and committee meetings
- Work in a professional and collegial manner with the university community
- Maintain compliance with policies and procedures in the Faculty Manual
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or PsyD in Psychology or Human Development by the time of appointment
- Proven capacity for engaged teaching
- Experience within a liberal arts context and familiarity with liberal arts education
- Interdisciplinary interest in the social sciences and facility in several languages
About the Department:
The Department of Psychology, Health, and Gender consists of a Psychology major and a Gender, Sexuality and Society major. We also house minors in Gender Studies and Psychology. Our Psychology degree is taught as an interdisciplinary degree with a firm basis in psychological theory and methods and places particular emphasis on the sociocultural aspects of human lives.
