Position Overview
We are in search of a seasoned Mechanical Construction Lead to direct and oversee mechanical construction operations on a significant nuclear new build initiative. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with other construction discipline leaders, the Client, and their design collaborators to ensure the effective execution of the project. This position demands substantial experience in managing new build EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, particularly employing a staged gate/RIBA methodology on a brownfield site within the nuclear sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction Leadership: Direct the mechanical construction initiatives, ensuring alignment with project objectives, schedules, and quality benchmarks.
- Project Execution: Supervise the planning, coordination, and implementation of all mechanical construction tasks, ensuring timely completion, budget adherence, and quality compliance.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Engage in close cooperation with the Client and their design partners to ensure mechanical construction efforts are in sync with overall project design and goals.
- Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee that all mechanical construction operations adhere to nuclear safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Risk Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage risks related to mechanical construction activities, developing strategies to mitigate potential challenges.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and lead a team of mechanical construction professionals, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellence.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and uphold stringent quality control measures to ensure all mechanical construction activities meet or surpass industry standards.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Advocate for a robust safety culture, ensuring that all mechanical construction activities prioritize personnel health and safety as well as environmental protection.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer (CEng), Project Management Professional (PMP)) is preferred.
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience in mechanical construction within the nuclear or energy sectors, with a strong focus on new build EPC projects, particularly on brownfield sites.
Skills
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nuclear industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools.

Additional Requirements:
