Job Specifications:

  • Permanent role - Metallurgy MEB Laboratory Technician / Metallographer (M/F)

Our Technocampus Ocean (TCO) is committed to fostering innovation, technical proficiency, research, and development (R&D). This collaborative technological research hub unites Naval Group's Technical Directorate, the Sirehna subsidiary specializing in hydrodynamics and embedded systems, along with various partners.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Technically analyze customer examination requests
  • Develop sample plans and write testing protocols as needed
  • Prepare samples for analysis: cutting, coating, polishing, and acid etching
  • Conduct examinations in accordance with departmental standards and procedures, including scanning electron microscopy observations (micrographs, fractographies, dimensional measurements, X-EDS analysis, EBSD analysis, etc.) and optical microscopy (macrographs, micrographs, etc.), as well as hardness testing
  • Analyze and formalize examination results in reports for validation
  • Adhere to and implement the quality standards of our COFRAC accreditation

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the characterization of metallic materials

Essential Skills

  • Extensive experience in performing tests within a laboratory setting
  • Knowledge of metallurgy concerning steels, stainless steels, and titanium, along with welding metallurgy
  • Familiarity with metallurgy of light alloys, nickel alloys, powder metallurgy, foundry products, and forging products is advantageous
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills enabling the handling, analysis, and/or documentation of scientific information
  • Proficient in drafting documents (reports, procedures, operating instructions, etc.) and skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Methodical, meticulous, and analytical. Self-sufficient. Values teamwork and versatility in characterization techniques.
