Position Overview

Role:

  • Laboratory Technician - Metallurgy MEB / Metallographer (M/F)

Employment Type:

Our Technocampus Ocean (TCO) is a hub for innovation, technical prowess, research, and development (R&D). This collaborative technological research platform integrates Naval Group's Technical Directorate, the Sirehna subsidiary specializing in hydrodynamics and embedded systems, along with various partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical analysis of customer examination requests
  • Develop sample plans and draft testing protocols as needed
  • Prepare samples for analysis: cutting, coating, polishing, and acid etching
  • Perform examinations in accordance with departmental standards and procedures, including scanning electron microscopy observations (micrographs, fractographies, dimensional measurements, X-EDS analysis, EBSD analysis, etc.) and optical microscopy (macrographs, micrographs, etc.), as well as hardness testing
  • Analyze and formalize examination results in reports for validation
  • Adhere to and implement the quality standards of our COFRAC accreditation

Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the characterization of metallic materials

Skills Required:

  • Extensive experience in conducting laboratory tests
  • Knowledge of metallurgy pertaining to steels, stainless steels, and titanium, as well as welding metallurgy
  • Familiarity with metallurgy of light alloys, nickel alloys, powder metallurgy, foundry products, and forging products is advantageous
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills for handling, analyzing, and/or drafting scientific documentation
  • Proficiency in document writing (reports, procedures, operating instructions, etc.) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Methodical, meticulous, and analytical. Self-sufficient. Appreciates teamwork and versatility in characterization techniques.
