AI Researcher for Federated Learning Development

il y a 1 mois

Villeurbanne, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France INRIA Temps plein

We are seeking a highly skilled AI researcher to join our team at INRIA and contribute to the development of federated learning algorithms. This PhD position is part of the Nokia-Inria Federated Learning Challenge, a collaborative project between INRIA and Nokia Bell Labs.

Federated learning systems enable model estimation without providing sensitive client data to the server, reducing communication requirements and ensuring increased privacy. Our research focuses on developing decentralized learning architectures and algorithms for future wireless communication systems.

As an AI researcher in this role, you will investigate the impact of realistic wireless communication links on state-of-the-art federated learning methods. You will also develop new resource allocation, compression, and coding schemes to optimize tradeoffs between communication reliability and federated learning update compression.

Main activities include analyzing convergence of state-of-the-art federated learning methods and developing novel schemes to mitigate errors arising from wireless communications. You will collaborate with experts in the field and participate in international conferences and seminars.

The ideal candidate has a background in optimization theory, probability theory/statistics, and wireless communications. Proficiency in Python and experience with machine learning packages are also essential. A high level of spoken and written English is required.

This PhD position offers a competitive salary, including:

  • Gross monthly salary: €21,900 (1st year), €22,900 (2nd year), and €23,400 (3rd year)

Additionally, you can enjoy subsidized meals, partial reimbursement of public transport costs, and flexible working hours. Our organization provides professional equipment, access to vocational training, and complementary health insurance under certain conditions.
