Your Role:

Ascendance is on the lookout for a talented and driven Lead Engineer for Battery Systems to become a vital part of our innovative team. In this position, you will take charge of all battery-centric initiatives within our hybrid electric aircraft program. Your main emphasis will be on the seamless integration of the battery system into our hybrid propulsion system, STERNA, with opportunities to engage in the design and development of our ATEA aircraft as the project advances.

You will oversee Ascendance's battery-related endeavors. These responsibilities will revolve around the integration of the battery system within STERNA, our hybrid propulsion system. You will establish our industrial strategy concerning battery delivery, clarify our specifications, forge partnerships with our industrial collaborators, and spearhead the design and implementation of our battery systems. Initially, your focus will be on STERNA-related tasks, but your involvement in ATEA's design may increase as our serial version progresses.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Overseeing Battery Initiatives: Manage all tasks related to the design, development, and integration of battery systems within the hybrid electric aircraft program.
  • Battery System Integration: Concentrate on the integration of the battery system within the STERNA hybrid propulsion system, ensuring optimal functionality and compatibility.
  • Development of Industrial Strategy: Create and execute an industrial strategy for battery delivery, aligning with project timelines and objectives.
  • Specification Clarification: Define and clarify technical specifications for battery systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Partnership Development: Build and manage relationships with industrial partners, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and delivery of battery systems.
  • Oversight of Design and Delivery: Lead the design, testing, validation, and delivery of battery systems, ensuring adherence to performance, safety, and reliability standards.
  • Focus on STERNA System: Initially concentrate on tasks related to the STERNA hybrid propulsion system, ensuring successful integration and operation.
  • Participation in ATEA Design: Potentially engage in the design and development of the ATEA aircraft as the project evolves, contributing your expertise to its success.

This Position is Ideal for You If You Have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in battery system design, development, and integration, preferably within the aerospace or automotive sectors.
  • A solid understanding of hybrid propulsion systems and battery technologies.
  • Experience in developing industrial strategies and specifying requirements.
