Numerical Analyst for Nanophotonics Research

INRIA is seeking a highly motivated Numerical Analyst to join our research team focused on nanophotonics and metamaterials.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of innovative numerical methods for simulating electromagnetic wave propagation in nanoscale structures. Your expertise in machine learning and deep learning will be instrumental in creating reduced-order models (ROMs) for efficient and accurate simulations of complex nanophotonic devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a comprehensive review of existing ANN-based ROM methods for time-domain nanophotonics.
- Develop a novel ANN-based ROM method specifically tailored for electrically-driven active metasurfaces, implementing it in Fortran 2003 and Python.
- Rigorously assess the performance of the proposed ANN-based ROM method through the analysis of benchmark problems.
- Design and implement an inverse design workflow leveraging the developed ANN-based ROM method for optimizing electrically-driven active metasurfaces.
- Contribute to scientific publications documenting your research findings.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong foundation in numerical analysis techniques applied to partial differential equations (PDEs).
- Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning concepts, particularly with artificial neural networks.
- Basic understanding of electromagnetic wave propagation principles.
- Software development skills in Python and Fortran 2003, including experience with parallel programming using MPI and OpenMP.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, demonstrated through effective verbal and written communication.
- Fluent English language proficiency.
