We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of R&D Department to lead our R&D team in Chasse-sur-Rhône. As a key member of our site CODIR, you will be responsible for managing the R&D department and driving the development and scale-up of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Main Responsibilities- Manage a team of 20 people in synthesis and analysis, ensuring effective resource allocation and achieving departmental objectives.
- Develop and implement new approaches, technologies, and methodologies to improve synthesis routes and processes.
- Evaluate customer requirements and opportunities for new projects and products, conducting technical assessments and presenting development strategies.
- Design and develop synthesis approaches based on technical and economic comparisons of various options.
- Plan and prioritize departmental activities, ensuring effective resource usage and achieving company objectives.
- Develop and implement methodologies in line with current regulations, such as Design Of Experiments and Fate & Purge.
- Ensure processes comply with internal procedures, current regulations, and customer requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, maintaining excellence in modern synthetic methods and technologies.
- Propose technical investments required for departmental activities and manage the department's budget.
- Collaborate with other functions and sites to ensure the success and efficiency of transferred processes.
- Represent Axplora at scientific events and customer meetings, contributing to the external visibility of the company.
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in Chemistry, specializing in organic chemistry, and a minimum of 15 years' experience in the API CDMO pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing large multifunctional teams, answering Requests for Proposals, and interacting with customers.
Excellent chemical knowledge and understanding, particularly in synthetic organic chemistry, is essential. Experience in route of synthesis design, process development, and validation is also required. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, such as QbD and PAT, is necessary.
Innovative thinking, organizational skills, and excellent communication skills are essential for this role. Bilingual in French and English, with some German a plus, is required.
