Business Environment

The Search, Shopping & Pricing (SSP) product engineering division is dedicated to supporting the core Travel Channels, Airline IT sector, and Travel Intelligence initiatives. SSP plays a pivotal role in the Search, Shopping, and Pricing solutions, empowering users to discover and evaluate travel options from both full-service and low-cost carriers.

SSP significantly contributes to various strategic programs aimed at adopting industry standards and enhancing accessibility for travel agents alongside our GDS offerings.

Within this framework, the Functional Architect's role is crucial for leading pre-delivery initiatives focused on intricate and cross-functional solution analysis to develop high-quality end-to-end solutions (from search to post-sales).

Your Main Responsibilities

Common Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrate advanced technical expertise to ensure the team operates at peak performance.
  • Recognized as a key leader in the field, capable of mentoring Specialists/Senior Specialists.
  • Understand the impact of primary business drivers on your area of responsibility.
  • Evaluate complex issues with widespread implications, enhance processes, propose solutions, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate intricate information effectively.
  • Operate with a high degree of independence, guided by management directives.
  • Serve as the SSP functional architect representative both internally and externally, engaging in enterprise-level solution design.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to one of the most strategic programs by designing exceptional travel platform solutions.
  • Assess needs and requirements from clients (airlines & travel sellers) implementing/adopting industry standards.
  • Offer functional and technical solution recommendations with justifications for complex cross-organizational solutions in collaboration with R&D teams.
  • Identify areas of commonality and optimize departmental operations by creating coherent, reusable solution responses.
  • Ensure regular and relevant status updates to stakeholders throughout the engagement process.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to Product, Sales, and Account teams regarding functional and technical recommendations.
  • Document and present solution proposals to a broad audience, including R&D leadership, Experts, Architects, R&D delivery teams, Customers, Product Managers, and Account managers.
  • Transition solutions to delivery teams.
  • Assist in new business opportunity assessments concerning complex solutions.
  • Recommend strategies to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate within a SAFe organization as a shared service team member.
  • Handover validated solutions to SAFE organizations upon entering the development phase.

Develop, Maintain and Share Solution Analysis and Expertise:

  • Establish and implement a communication/training strategy within the team.
  • Create and deliver training materials: tutorials, user guides, videos for internal team development.
  • Define, develop, and facilitate communication between commercial and R&D organizations regarding complex solutions or escalations.

Measure and Improve:

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the overall functional/technical solution determination processes and propose enhancements.
