Facilities Engineer - C&I

AWE is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Engineer - C&I to join our team at the EPURE facility in France. This role will support a joint UK/French Radiographic and Hydrodynamics facility and is a unique opportunity to collaborate with esteemed colleagues and be part of a groundbreaking project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply technical knowledge for engineered systems and structures
  • Identify and escalate business risk where applicable to plant and engineered systems
  • Make evidence-based engineering decisions to solve technical problems
  • Bring C&I engineering skills to the team, including electrical distribution, functional safety, PLCs, machinery safety, intrinsic safety, BMS, and specialist instrumentation
  • Provide hands-on support for UK Trials at EPURE
  • Contribute towards the development of Safe Systems of Work and Work instructions
  • Acquire and maintain the necessary competencies to perform this role
  • Develop awareness of team, function, and company processes and technical capabilities
  • Participate in collaborative working relationships as part of a team (internal/external)
Requirements:
  • HNC/HND with additional experience
  • Proven ability to deliver engineering across similar manufacturing/research environments incorporating infrastructure facilities, plant, and equipment
  • Experience of delivering facilities engineering and maintenance services across the life of an asset
  • Ability to communicate in the French Language, with training provided and significant personal commitment and self-study required to reach the required level
  • Relocation to France and living within 1 hour of the Valduc site for up to 5 years
  • Ability to operate in workplaces of substantial hazard (radiological, explosive, toxic)
  • Comfortable working in the defence industry in support of the UK nuclear deterrent
  • Fit to wear a respirator and work in a radiation-controlled area

Please note that when first appointed in the role, you will be based in the UK initially for a period of 6-9 months before being deployed to France. Once deployed to France, you will follow the site standard 5-day working week, at the end of the assignment, you will be re-deployed back to AWE in the UK. Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
