Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France Amadeus Temps plein

Position Overview

As a Senior QA Engineer at Amadeus, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the excellence of our products, thereby enhancing the experience of our customers.

Business Context

The airline sector is undergoing a significant transformation in retailing to meet the evolving expectations of customers, which include enhanced workflow efficiency, price transparency, and personalized interactions through social networks.

In this dynamic environment, the Order Management System (ORMS) is crucial for delivering the true value of this transformation, and our team is responsible for developing the Amadeus solution.

Following the foundational work completed in 2020, our focus is now on preparing the product for operational use by airlines, with an emphasis on openness, simplicity, and agility. Our group operates within a full SAFe framework.

Role Responsibilities

In the OMS team, you will collaborate within an agile framework to design, develop, validate, and maintain core components of the OMS, which includes:

  • Managing order data and lifecycle through a core order system.
  • Integrating with the NDC layer of the order suite via the RTL backend.
  • Coordinating with other necessary suites throughout the order handling process, including offer suite, revenue accounting, payment, and operations suite.
  • Leveraging PSS capabilities for a seamless transition while introducing new functionalities via ORMS.

To achieve these goals, you will work with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, such as:

  • Backend Test Automation utilizing Robot Framework and Python.
  • Cloud-native applications built on ACS with Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • Microfocus Octane for Test Management.
  • Validating Open API with REST JSON over HTTPS.
  • Implementing a comprehensive CI/CD pipeline to facilitate smooth code deployment and validation from development to production environments.

Key Accountabilities

General Responsibilities:

You will possess advanced technical and functional expertise in your field, understanding how your contributions impact the business. You will serve as a reference point for less experienced colleagues and support junior team members.

In this role, you will:

  • Influence decisions related to your activities, anticipating dependencies and outcomes in complex scenarios.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and propose process improvements.
  • Work independently while adhering to plans set by management, seeking guidance in the most complex situations.

Specific Responsibilities:

Test Automation & QA Tools:

  • Evaluate the need for automating specific test scripts.
  • Utilize and enhance the test automation framework, particularly with Robot Framework and Python.

Experience with version control tools (GIT), testing tools (Postman), and test management tools (Octane) is essential.

Test Strategy & Planning:

  • Participate in specification and architecture reviews, providing feedback on potential impacts and risks.
  • Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans that include both functional and non-functional test cases, ensuring alignment with specifications and customer requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with CI/CD guidelines and industry quality standards.

Test Execution:

  • Design and implement test cases and scripts.
  • Prepare test environments and execute test cases.
  • Provide sign-off on features based on established exit criteria.
  • Continuously assess and update test cases in the regression and CI/CD pipeline based on new features and metrics.

Defect Management:

  • Document and categorize defects, providing detailed information for resolution.
  • Verify defect fixes and determine readiness for production deployment.

Reporting:

  • Communicate test activities and results to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide visibility on testing milestones and campaigns.

Support & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Mentor new team members and offer support to peers.
  • Share expertise on specific topics within the QA community.

Quality Assurance Leadership:

  • Take ownership of project quality control.
  • Promote best practices in quality assurance across teams.

Technological Proficiency:

  • Utilize QA tools and frameworks effectively.
  • Drive improvements in existing processes and tools.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Champion proposals for enhancing quality processes within a dynamic development framework.
  • Participate in workshops and initiatives for implementing new tools and technologies.

Candidate Profile:

Education:

  • A university degree or equivalent professional experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 9 years in a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer role.
  • Extensive experience in automation testing.
  • A strong functional, technical, and tooling background with a quality-focused mindset.
  • Experience in the airline industry is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with SAFe (Scaled Agile) methodology.
