We are assembling a dynamic international team of enthusiastic scientists and engineers dedicated to integrating biology, engineering, automation, and computer science. Our mission is to enhance microorganism engineering, screening, and selection for a diverse range of industrial biotechnology applications, including baking, brewing, bioethanol, flavors and fragrances, food and feed, nutraceuticals, and pharmaceuticals.
About the Automation and Software Engineering Team
Key areas of focus include: programming, design, automation, DevOps, web applications, version control (git), APIs, Jupyter, and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
In this newly created role, we seek a Software Engineer specializing in automation.
Your Responsibilities:
- Take charge of designing, developing, and sustaining the software infrastructure for our Biofoundry.
- Collaborate with biology experts, including designers, workflow developers, and data architects, to translate their requirements into software infrastructure specifications.
- Create custom software solutions for robotic workstations and data automation.
- Implement solutions utilizing our internal development environment and LIMS APIs.
- Diagnose software issues using analytical tools to identify and document defects, participating in root cause analysis.
- Devise innovative software solutions that facilitate effective laboratory automation, ensuring the Biofoundry operates efficiently and reliably.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in computer science or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in software infrastructure development and maintenance.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and SQL, with additional knowledge of JavaScript, Visual Basic Script, HTML, or C# being advantageous.
- Experience with Git (GitLab), API development, user interface design, Jupyter, and web applications.
- Familiarity with software development in Linux environments (Windows experience is a plus).
- Experience with both SQL and non-SQL databases.
Language Proficiency:
Fluency in English is essential.
