Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Religious Education to join our team at the Archdiocese of Chicago. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing religious education programming for grades 1-7, including sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective religious education programs for children and families.
  • Oversee the recruitment and training of catechists and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with parish staff to ensure seamless integration of religious education with other parish activities.
  • Prepare and manage the religious education budget in conjunction with the business manager and parish finance committee.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and families to promote ongoing involvement and support in the faith formation of their children.
  • Offer faith enrichment opportunities for parents and families.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in religious education and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements:

  • A degree in education, theology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in parish religious education and a collaborative approach with excellent communication and computer skills are essential.
  • Proven participation and continuing updating of the Safe Environment Program sponsored through the Diocese of Joliet.
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, and must know, profess, and act consistently in accordance with the doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
