Capijobnew is seeking a highly skilled Optical Network Engineer to join our team. As an Optical Network Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, engineering, and documenting optimal wave solutions for Europe.
Key Responsibilities- Network Planning and Engineering: Develop and implement network plans to ensure strategic fit with network growth and expansion goals.
- Network Optimization: Review and optimize network designs to simplify the network, improve service, and reduce cost.
- Network Capacity Management: Proactively manage network capacity and trigger, manage, and deliver infrastructure upgrade projects to maintain the capability to deliver customer services.
- Optical Network Spares Planning: Proactively manage optical network spares planning for optimal cost/SLA balance.
- Liaison with Sales Engineering: Liaise with Sales Engineering to ensure network solutions fit with general European architecture strategy and evolve with broad customer requirements.
- Vendor Management: Work closely with vendors to implement changes, additions, and upgrades to optical infrastructure networks.
- Customer Service Activation: Support implementation and service activation with network and vendor knowledge.
- Operations Team Collaboration: Work closely with the wider Operations team to ensure efficient delivery of customer services to achieve company quarterly Gross, Churn, and Net service activations.
- Disconnect Tasks: Proactively manage disconnect tasks to ensure best use of network capacity.
- Infrastructure Spend Management: Manage infrastructure spend and provide accurate quarterly forecasts for the business.
- Global Provisioning Processes: Work with product group peers to ensure alignment with global provisioning processes and capture regional needs.
- Customer Meetings: Attend Customer meetings when required and provide technical input and direction.
- Personal Development: Update relevant knowledge & skills in line with trends and developments in the field.
- Business Planning and Liaison: Support the development of Capijobnew by taking part in business planning and liaison work with other teams.
- Compliance and Ethics: Comply with departmental, corporate controls and procedures and all internal control processes.
- Professional Integrity: Maintain the highest ethical and business standards and always conduct self with the greatest degree of professional integrity.
- Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake any other ad hoc duties as deemed appropriate by the appropriate Manager/Director.
- Substantial Experience in Optical Transmission Systems: Substantial experience in optical transmission systems.
- Technical Understanding of Optical Telecommunications Networks: In-depth technical understanding of the components in optical telecommunications networks and a demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate technical data, methods, and procedures.
- WDM Transmission Equipment Knowledge: Working knowledge of WDM transmission equipment. Experience with Ciena, Nokia, Ekinops, and Adva would be an advantage.
- Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Confident and able to challenge staff, suppliers, and processes to deliver a favorable Customer outcome. Ability to diversify and adapt to business needs.
- Pragmatic and Analytical Approach: Pragmatic and analytical approach to problem solving. Accountability oriented.
