Role Purpose:

As a Rust Developer on our foundational team, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining the core components that support Proton's mobile and web applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including backend API, web frontend, and mobile developers, to ensure smooth integration and peak performance across our applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and Develop: Spearhead the design and creation of Rust libraries for use across web and mobile platforms.
  • Cross-Platform Compatibility: Guarantee optimal performance and compatibility across diverse platforms, including web browsers and mobile devices.
  • Code Review and Optimization: Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback to enhance code quality and performance.
  • Collaboration: Partner with frontend and mobile developers to seamlessly integrate libraries into Proton's applications.
  • Testing: Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit and integration tests.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for libraries to aid other developers in understanding and utilizing the components.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in software development, with a strong focus on Rust programming.
  • Rust Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Rust language features, including concurrency and ownership models.
  • Web and Mobile Development: Proven experience in developing libraries for web and mobile applications.
  • Collaborative Skills: Strong ability to work effectively in a team environment with excellent communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving abilities and efficiency in troubleshooting.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and other enterprise patterns.
  • Experience with web assembly.
  • Understanding of cryptographic concepts, including key exchange and encryption types.
  • Experience with Docker or similar containerization technologies.
