In practical terms, the reliability of certain approximations may be scrutinized, particularly due to the emergence of chaotic phenomena or simply as the precision of the systems under study improves.

For a high-precision bosonic framework, it is crucial to thoroughly comprehend the phenomena, even those that are very subtle, that could lead to logical errors, as well as to what extent the simplified models analyzed can account for these phenomena.

These simulations are vital for pinpointing limiting phenomena, optimizing the controls that underpin logical gates, and swiftly estimating system parameters (calibration).

The QUANTIC team, in collaboration with ENS de Lyon and the start-up Alice&Bob, employs techniques based on the engineering of dissipative systems, which are modeled by the Lindblad equation.

However, these simulations can quickly escalate in complexity when it becomes necessary to model multiple cavities (for logic gates and/or buffer cavity modeling) or a significant number of photons (GKP codes, large cat qubits).

These research areas are central to all theoretical and experimental tasks of WP1 of NISQ2LSQ, which pertains to superconducting bosonic codes.

The junior research leader will collaborate within the Inria-ENS-Mines-CNRS Quantic team, overseeing a small team of 1 PhD student and/or 1 postdoc to tackle the aforementioned challenges.

The position is available for a fixed-term contract of 3 years for a junior research leader.

In this scenario, the funding will be allocated to support the hiring of a PhD student and a postdoc, working alongside the young researcher.

  1. Conduct research with a team of 1 PhD student and/or 1 postdoc on the specified topics. The candidate will co-supervise the PhD student with a team member who possesses the necessary qualifications.

The candidate must demonstrate expertise in quantum physics, numerical methods, and control theory, possess a PhD, and have a commendable track record.
