Position Overview
Veeva's Legal Department is seeking a proactive and commercially savvy attorney who thrives in a dynamic global environment. This position is designed for a legal expert supporting Veeva's rapidly expanding and innovative data offerings, particularly Veeva Link, Veeva OpenData, and Veeva's Business Consulting services, which encompass data analytics delivery. The primary focus will be on the European market. You will collaborate closely with executive, strategy, and product teams to ensure that Veeva Link, OpenData, and Business Consulting initiatives comply with regulatory standards and fulfill customer needs. This role will be based in Europe and will necessitate regular travel to support a management and product team located in a major European city.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the global compliance framework for Veeva Link, OpenData products, and any future data solutions developed by Veeva.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding the legal compliance of Veeva Link, OpenData products, and other data offerings.
- Provide legal counsel to the Veeva Link and OpenData executive, product, and strategy teams within the European region.
- Suggest enhancements and innovations to policies and procedures relevant to the business.
- Conduct research on applicable laws, regulations, and best practices, including managing local counsel outside of Europe, while collaborating with the Veeva data privacy team on relevant privacy legislation.
- Create and maintain legal templates pertinent to the business, overseeing the drafting of core Order Form and SOW templates, along with any necessary modifications to Master agreements to ensure global uniformity.
- Provide legal guidance for the introduction of new data products.
- Assist with Business Consulting contracts in various local markets.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the broader legal team on data-related issues and participate in customer commercial negotiation discussions as required.
- Advise and negotiate significant vendor and partner agreements for the Veeva Link and OpenData divisions.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree and an active legal license.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant legal and business experience.
- Strong background in working with providers of commercially licensed data products, either in-house or at a law firm, including contract structuring and reviewing terms with data suppliers and licensees.
- Comprehensive understanding of key global data privacy laws and copyright regulations as they pertain to the collection, processing, and management of data from diverse sources.
- Experience in supervising and directing local legal counsel on a global scale.
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced business environment to meet critical deadlines.
- Capable of engaging in informed discussions with subject matter experts within our client base and with regulatory bodies.
- Proficient in English at a professional level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in the German language.
- Residing in a major European city.
