Senior DevSecOps Engineer

ORCID is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevSecOps Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of our products and services.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate security risks in our product infrastructure.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy for our product portfolio.
- Conduct thorough security assessments and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Work closely with developers to ensure security best practices are integrated into the development lifecycle.
- Provide guidance and leadership on security best practices and procedures.
- Analyze and prioritize vulnerabilities identified by developers, customers, and automated testing tools.
- Remediate security issues in alignment with identified risk to ORCID systems, users, and data.
- Implement common application security controls and ensure privacy requirements are met.
- Work with the operations team to select and configure internal/SaaS tools securely.
- Provide training and education to developers on software security best practices.
- Participate in on-call rotation for out-of-hours support and respond to technical emergencies.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience as a DevSecOps engineer or similar role with a focus on security.
- Experience translating OWASP Top 10 into practical development imperatives.
- Knowledge of and experience with best practices in security engineering and DevOps.
- Experience with cloud services, such as AWS, and their native security features.
- Experience securing databases, including access control and encryption.
- Experience with integration and release pipelines and security tools like GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of Terraform, network security architectures, and secure network design.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well in teams.
- Self-starter with strong communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts.
- Fluency in English required; additional languages a plus.
- Ability to travel based on business needs (less than 10%).
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience with enterprise security tools.
- Proficiency in securing and addressing security issues in programming languages like Python or Java.
