Role Summary

We are currently seeking a qualified Lead Instrument Technician to join SPIE Oil & Gas Services Qatar LLC.

In this role, you will oversee a team of Instrument Technicians responsible for performing corrective and routine maintenance, periodic verification and calibration, installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of various pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and digital field instrumentation within Qatargas facilities, adhering to established schedules and procedures.

The field devices you will work with include a diverse range of pneumatic and electronic instruments, such as SMART transmitters for flow, pressure, level, and temperature measurement, control valves with pneumatic and smart valve positioners, emergency shutdown systems, blowdown valves, motor-operated valves, radar and ultrasonic level transmitters, mass flow meters, thermocouples, flame scanners, vibration probes, and instrumentation related to gas turbine and compressor anti-surge control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the designated Qatargas Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Lead or perform maintenance on field instrumentation, including measuring and indicating devices, transmitters, control valves, emergency shutdown valves, and various management systems, ensuring they remain functional and reliable with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure adherence to Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) requirements and maintain records of validation/calibration data and maintenance activities.
  • Mentor instrument technicians to ensure timely job execution and high-quality work standards.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance technicians, and operations teams, providing updates on job progress.

Candidate Profile

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

Educational Background: A minimum of Higher Secondary School Education, complemented by a three-to-five-year technical diploma or certificate in Instrumentation or Electronics from a recognized institution.

Relevant Experience: At least 10 years of maintenance experience, with a minimum of 8 years focused on field instrumentation in various oil and gas processing, LNG, or petrochemical facilities.

Technical Skills: Proficient in computer applications, with knowledge of SAP and commonly used Microsoft business software being advantageous.

Language Proficiency: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Job-Specific Requirements:

  • In-depth understanding of measurement techniques and devices for various process variables, including flow, temperature, pressure, density, and level.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and digital instrumentation systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of vibration measurement, burner management, and gas turbine control instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, Loop Drawings, and Cause & Effect, Function Block, and Ladder Logic Diagrams.
