We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our team at the Centre de Recherche en Neurosciences de Lyon - CRNL. The successful candidate will work on a project focused on the interplay between epilepsy-related respiratory dysfunction and arousal regulation.
The project will be conducted in two rodent models of epilepsy: Scn1aRH/+ mice and rat model of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). The work will use complementary techniques, including long-term cardio-respiratory recordings combined with EEG, in vivo multiunit recordings, and molecular neurobiology (RT-qPCR and RNAscope).
The PhD student will be part of the Translational Group in Epilepsy Research (TIGER) and will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced researchers, including Dr. Sylvain RHEIMS, Dr. Laurent BEZIN, Dr. Hayet KOUCHI, and Dr. Jonathon SMITH.
The PhD position is funded by the ERANET-NEURON project AUTONOMIC and the ERC funded project EPIAROUSAL. The successful candidate will receive a 3-year contract with a salary of 1687 € / month.
Project Summary:
The project aims to study the interplay between epilepsy-related respiratory dysfunction and arousal regulation. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of new therapeutic strategies for epilepsy-related respiratory dysfunction.
Administrative Organization:
The PhD student will be enrolled in the Doctoral School of Neurosciences and Cognition (ED476) and will be employed by Lyon 1 University.
