Job Summary:

The George, a luxury hotel located in the heart of Seattle, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Full-Time Server to join our dynamic team. As a Server, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our guests during dinner service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarize yourself with all menus, including wine and beverage lists.
  • Reset the dining room according to meal periods and table needs.
  • Perform restaurant service preparation duties, such as preparing condiments, polishing glassware and silverware, brewing coffee, and ensuring workstations are stocked.
  • Inform and promote guests of daily/nightly specials.
  • Offer creative selling of products to guests.
  • Answer questions and/or make recommendations on menu items.
  • Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing cooking methods and ingredients.
  • Take into consideration any special requests or dietary issues made by guests.
  • Describe and recommend wine pairings to guests.
  • Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses and pour the wine for guests.
  • Ensure final quality check on food and beverage prior to serving guests.
  • Clear, clean, reset, and maintain station during shift.
  • Provide general hotel information for guests.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests and adhere to the steps of service.
  • Follow all proper credit card and cash handling procedures.
  • Address any guest issue promptly and with concern.
  • Provide assistance to restaurant staff as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least two years of high-volume restaurant serving experience preferred.
  • Luxury dining experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of alcoholic beverages.
  • Working knowledge of wine and wine-pairings; advanced knowledge preferred.
  • Must hold authorization to work in the USA.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Alcohol MAST Permit (Class 13).
  • Must possess a valid Washington Food Worker Card.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must be professional in appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs at shoulder height.
