Job Description

Context and Key Aspects of the Position

This PhD research project will take place in the COAST team at INRIA and will be supervised by Claudia-Lavinia Ignat and Olivier Perrin.

Research Mission

The goal of this research is to propose a security mechanism adapted for distributed collaborative systems without a central authority. The security mechanism must address user access rights to shared documents as well as end-to-end encryption of data with suitable key management for dynamic user groups.

Key Challenges

  • Developing a security mechanism that deals with user access rights and end-to-end encryption in a distributed collaborative system.
  • Designing a key management system that is suitable for dynamic user groups.
  • Ensuring the security and integrity of shared documents in a collaborative system.

Research Objectives

  • To propose a security mechanism that is easy to use and can be tested with users.
  • To investigate suitable end-to-end encryption techniques for collaboration over mutable data.
  • To develop a key management system that is suitable for dynamic user groups.

Requirements

  • Engineering or Master's degree in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics with experience in computer networks.
  • Theoretical expertise in distributed systems, P2P networks, and security.
  • Good collaborative and networking skills, excellent written and oral communication in English.
  • Good programming skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
