The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. The ILL hosts over 2000 visits by scientists per year, who come to carry out world-class research.

**Your tasks**
Purchases and contracts represent almost half of the ILL’s annual budget. You will therefore hold a key position within the Administration Division's Purchasing Service.
Reporting to the Head of Purchasing, you will develop and promote the ILL’s purchasing policy, which is aimed at obtaining a fair return on investment (known as “juste retour”) for the Institute’s funding countries. Working in a specific purchasing sector, you will carry out the following operational tasks:
- Analysing needs in close consultation with in-house users/purchase requesters (scientists, engineers, project leaders, etc.)
- Taking part in project meetings in liaison with all those concerned
- Sourcing suppliers and keeping up to date with commercial and technological developments
- Issuing and following up invitations to tender
- Negotiating prices based on a total cost approach (price, quality, terms of payment, delivery schedule, transport, etc.)
- Preparing and presenting to the Institute’s various approval committees the documentation on planned purchases
- Following-up orders together with in-house users and monitoring supplier relations
- Selecting, evaluating and qualifying suppliers
- Processing and managing orders.
In addition, concerning the strategic suppliers in your purchasing sector, you will:
- Proactively put forward alternative ideas and solutions
- Set up framework agreements
- Take charge of renegotiating contracts
- Establish partnerships.
**Your profile**
- You have a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in purchasing and at least 3 years’ experience working as a buyer in an industrial or research environment, ideally with an international dimension.
- You are proficient in the use of ERP tools and have a keen interest in all relevant professional software.
- You have a critical mindset, excellent analytical and synthesis skills, and are known for your meticulous approach and integrity.
- You have a sound knowledge of written and spoken French and English. Knowledge of German would be a plus.
