Research Engineer in Metallurgy

You will work in collaboration with other R&D research centers in order to improve the molten steel quality in the Electric Arc Furnace and Ladle Furnace process for Long products. In short term, you will take charge of R&D projects as project leader, offer new ideas, competitors and suppliers survey, university partnerships to generate new solutions for our plants. Business travels will allow you to work with worldwide partners. Your main activities will be: - To contribute to the development and industrialization of our online models in Long Carbon steel plants in the framework of Industry 4.0. The objectives of these models are to optimize the metallurgical practice and to deliver recommendations to adjust settings when process drifts occur. - To support long carbon plants in the improvement of EAF process in order to solve quality and production issues linked to the increase of scraps loading. - To improve the metallurgical practice in ladle furnace aiming to enhance the steel inclusion cleanliness. - To provide technical support to the plant to optimize metallurgical routes and process/product adaptation. - To reinforce knowledge development and innovation in the field of liquid steel metallurgy in the framework of internal and external partnerships and collaborations. - To manage medium and long term projects (>12 months) in the scope of the engineers activities. **Your Profile** This part of the job requires good analytical skills, to perform literature surveys and model development. Informatic skills are also required to code the models. - You hold a Master degree and/or PhD in Metallurgy or Material Science. - You are advanced in English and French. - You have knowledge in Material science, Process Engineering, in Metallurgy or Steelmaking. - You are i nnovative, curious and results oriented. - You have excellent social skills to work in project teams within a multi-cultural environment and different plant factories. - You have the ability to travel worldwide. This part of the job needs a strong collaboration with plants, a good reactivity and sense of priorities to overcome urgent issues.
