Research Engineer in The Field of Metallic Coating Product

You will join the Metallic Coatings and Surfaces (MCS) cluster belonging to the Product Research Center. This cluster, consisting of about 70 people, aims to master and develop both existing and new metallic coatings, surface treatments, and innovative processes.
To achieve these objectives, various areas of expertise are developed and applied, including corrosion resistance, surface analysis, coating behavior/characterization, and the hot-dip-galvanizing process. The position offered is within the metallic coating product development team. In this team, activities focus on improving and developing innovative pre-coated metallic coating solutions for different steel markets: automotive, industry and appliances. The position open is related to new products development.

**Your role**

We are looking for a research engineer to work on metallic coatings development, with focus on metallurgy. Specialization in Materials Science and Data Science (Python, MATLAB) is expected for the job that consists in:

- Understanding new metallic coatings metallurgy, link with i-use properties - corrosion in particular - and link with manufacturing process,
- Designing and feeding database,
- Developing models aiming at facilitating product development, optimization, and industrial mastering, using most advanced tools (machine learning, AI).

This position is strategic to close the gap between experimental metallic coatings research and predictive modeling and strengthen the positioning of ArcelorMittal as a leader in the field of metallic coatings.

You will rely on advanced tools (various laboratory pilots and models) and solid expertise available both within and outside the cluster.

**Your profile**
- You hold a Master’s degree with general technical education and specialization in materials science. A PhD would be a plus.
- You possess skills in programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) to fit and solve models (or you have a strong willingness to develop these skills).
- You are advanced in French and in English.
- You are a team player with good communication skills.
- You are rigorous and autonomous.
- You are curious and have the willingness to learn constantly.
