Senior Technical Accountant

The **Senior Technical Accountant - SME**is responsible for providing technical support to retrocession Technical Accounting teams, managing entities and portfolios, and ensuring effective governance and processes. This role involves coordinating projects, defining and documenting controls, and facilitating communication with stakeholders. Additionally, the Senior Technical Accountant oversees the administration of insurance and reinsurance accounts, manages cash flow, and ensures compliance with internal controls and regulations. This position requires strong analytical, communication, and project management skills, along with expertise in retrocession and reinsurance accounting.

**Key duties and responsibilities**

**Portfolio Manager**:

- **Data Management**: Responsible for entries (treaties and/or facultative) in the accounting and underwriting systems/platforms and all further modifications.
- **Terms & Conditions**: Enter T&C into the accounting system accurately, check contractual T&C, and submit them to underwriters for signature
- **Account & Claims Processing**: Check and process accounts and claims advices, clarify discrepancies with underwriters/claim experts/cedents/brokers.
- **Portfolio Management**: Manage a portfolio with medium to complex accounts, solve complex problems, and provide guidance to juniors.
- **Cashflow Management**: Manage cashflow, set up client bank accounts, process payments, and follow up on pending payments and open balances.
- **ICS Controls**: Perform ICS controls according to guidelines and support underwriters in these controls.
- **Client Accounts Monitoring**: Monitor client accounts/statistics, perform data analysis, and support stakeholders with reports and statistics.
- **Compliance**: Ensure compliance with sanctions and embargos, and ensure proper filing of documentation in the DMS.
- **Client Communication**: Maintain good communication with clients by attending internal and external meetings and workshops.
- **Audit Accountability**: Be accountable for internal and external audit purposes.

**SME (Subject Matter Expert)**

**Depending on your profile and your level of expertise, we offer you the possibility to be part of the following topics**:

- **Process Review & Implementation**: Review and implement new processes, document guidelines, and procedures. Ensure the sharing of knowledge and work among teams.
- **Team Coordination**: Coordinate between teams for T&S and assist in internal and ICS controls. Assist in reallocating the external contracts administration among teams.
- **Control Governance**: Redesign existing controls, define new ones, and ensure governance of risk controls and assessments across all hubs.
- **Contract Management**: Follow up on renewal periods with the UW team and finalize contracts.
- **Quarterly Closings**: Coordinate operations related to quarterly closings, monitor closing result figures on external retrocessions with the Finance P&C closing & reporting team. Ensure accounts are sent quarterly according to contract terms and elements are settled as planned.

**Experience**:

- **Technical Expertise**: Strong knowledge of reinsurance, and insurance accounting principles. At least 10 years expertise in the field
- Retrocession experience beneficial
- Advanced MS Office skills (focus on MS Excel, Power Query)
- Power Bi, Tableau,Business Objects skills beneficial
