Assala Energy is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Marine Pilot to join our operations in Gabon. As a critical member of our Marine Operations Team, you will be responsible for the safe navigation of vessels in the Gamba area, ensuring compliance with port regulations and safety protocols.

You will assist Head of Marine Services with provision and management of safe and cost-effective marine services including Tanker pilotage, berthing and loading services, maintenance of export facilities, provision of knowledge and experience in marine matters as per the Marine Business Model and provision local expertise for marine operations.

Key activities include:

- Overseeing tanker berthing and loading operations under the guidance of the Marine MOPO, ensuring no accidents or incidents occur while actively minimizing potential demurrage.
- Contributing to the development of budgets related to marine operations;
- Verifying the appropriateness of all tankers selected for Gamba
- Overseeing the development and upkeep of operational procedure guides;
- Continuously enhancing experience and expertise through regular berthing operations;
- Ensuring that the logistics department maintains a minimum level of demurrage within its control;
- Diligently monitoring cargo quantity and quality, while promptly reporting actual or potential issues to the relevant parties along with suggested rectification measures;
- Facilitating prompt resolution and agreement on cargo and demurrage claims;
- Contributing insights to the annual marine budget;
- Planning for the maintenance of Breakaway couplings and conducting hose testing.
- Offering valuable input for the upkeep of the SBM facility.
- Stepping in for the Head of Marine Services whenever necessary.
- Supporting the Land Logistics team during Rig Movements over water as needed.
- Contributing to the achievement of ISO 140001 compliance by implementing the necessary measures as required.
- Supporting the monitoring and reporting processes for the loading, transport, and discharge of cargo between Port Gentil and Mayonami, with a focus on the handling of hazardous materials as needed.
- Assisting with the management of lagoon and inland marine operations, including tanker operations as permitted.
- Serving as the primary on-site oil spill advisor and On-Scene Commander for any waterborne spills.
- Carrying out designated HSSE Critical tasks outlined in the Logistics HSE case.

**Requirements**:

- Master Mariner with Class 1 Certificate, endorsed for carriage of oil
- Seasoned Marine Professional with extensive experience
- Advanced ship handling skills in order to act as marine pilot for tanker berthing/loadings at offshore SPM
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as technical support in marine logistics for exploration/production activities
- Contract and contractor management experience and skills
- Proficient computer skills, especially in Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in spoken, written, and reading English. Knowledge of the French language would be a plus.
