Electrical and Instrumentation Surveyor

Area Benelux & France is part of the Maritime Region West Europe consisting of a team of enthusiastic and committed employees taking care of various technical services. These services are related to the following disciplines: 
- CMC - Certification of Materials and Components for vessels and offshore installations
- VMC - Verification of Materials and Components for equipment or installations outside certification or classification requirements
- NB - New Building classification for vessels and offshore installations

There are five office locations in the Area; Antwerp, Le Havre, Marseille, Saint Nazaire, and Rotterdam. Beside this, several Surveyors are widely distributed geographically, to cover the geographical needs of our clients.

We aim to be the front-runner in innovation, digitalization, and customer-centricity. For various disciplines, new regimes are continuously introduced. Recent examples are electronic certificates, remote inspections, 3D printing, sensor-based maintenance, alternative fuels, and now heading towards autonomous shipping. Customer needs and footprint reduction are key elements.

We are looking for a electrical Surveyor to join our NB team in France, reporting to the local Team Leader.

**Main responsibilities**:

- Be part of DNV team(s) surveying our new building vessel project(s) in the country, including activities through all project phases and disciplines, from planning to close-out
- Application and interpretation of International and Classification Rules and regulations related to maritime industry.
- Perform work, which involves conventional engineering practices but may include complex problems such as the ability to identify conflicting integration design in Electrical and automation systems against Standards and regulations.
- Be responsible for (but not limited) to the electrical, automation and navigation disciplines during newbuilding of cruise vessel from Classification point of view.
- Survey of material and components for the maritime industry in manufacturer’s facilities.
- Approval of drawings and documentations related (but not limited) to Electrical and automation discipline.
- Work in close cooperation with and under the supervision of DNV Project Manager at the Yard
- Effectively interact and provide sound Technical/Regulatory guidance to Clients and participate in meetings or workshops if required.
- Build unambiguous inspection reports on survey findings/deviation from Rules requirements.
- Manage our clients together with other relevant parts of our organization

**Position Qualifications**:

- Degree (MSc level) in Electrical engineering, Electronic/telecommunication Engineering or similar is preferred. A degree or equivalent from maritime institution in combination with proven seagoing experience as Electrotechnical officer could potentially compensate for university qualifications.
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience as Electrical or Instrumentation & Control engineer in maritime or related sector. Experience as a Class electrical surveyor with sailing experience as Electrical officer in Electric Propulsion vessels would be considered an advantage.
- Working knowledge of Instrumentation and Control engineering for maritime industry.
- Experience related to shipbuilding projects, ideally experience with LNG and Diesel Electric Cruise vessels or ferries.
- In depth knowledge and experience on ship’s Electrical distribution systems, High voltage switchboards, Low voltage switchboards, Generators, Transformers, Frequency converters, Equipment in Hazardous areas, Automation Systems such as Propulsion automation, Emergency Shut Down Systems, Gas Automation Systems, Power plant and Machinery automation would be considered as an advantage.
- Broad knowledge of SOLAS, International Standards, Classification Rules and IEC standards would be considered as an advantage.
- Knowledge of Classification/Certification/Verification is desirable but not a prerequisite.
- Valid driving license
