- **Head of Data Management (Governance Focus)**

**Summary**: We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on leader to create our new Data Management team, focusing on advancing data governance practices in a company with low maturity in this area. This role requires a strategic thinker with a technical background, capable of both leading the team and directly contributing to improving data governance processes.

**Location** : Paris or Bordeaux

**Language** French and English

**Responsibilities**:

- Assess the current state of data governance maturity within the organization, identifying gaps, weaknesses, and areas for immediate improvement.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to elevate data governance maturity, leveraging hands-on expertise to implement foundational elements, policies, and controls.
- Lead by example by actively contributing to the implementation of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data lineage solutions.
- Collaborate closely with teams to instill best practices in data quality, consistency, security, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle.
- Drive the selection, implementation, and optimization of data governance tools and technologies to enhance the overall data management capabilities.
- Mentor and guide team members, providing hands-on support and expertise to enable their contributions to data governance improvement efforts.
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of data governance initiatives, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
- Communicate progress, outcomes, and challenges to senior leadership, advocating for resources and support, as necessary.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced certifications in data governance or related areas preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully designing and implementing data governance programs within [Retail/Manufacturing/Consumer Experience] contexts is a plus.
- Extensive hands-on experience (2-3 years) in data management with a strong emphasis on data governance, actively contributing to the implementation of governance frameworks.
- Proven track record of successfully driving data governance initiatives in organizations with low maturity levels, showcasing both leadership and technical expertise.
- Proficiency in data governance tools, metadata management, and data lineage solutions, with a demonstrated ability to implement and optimize these technologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of motivating teams and fostering a culture of data stewardship.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and the capability to navigate challenges associated with improving data governance maturity.
