**Your Mission**

As our **Principal Software Engineer**, you will play a key role in developing, optimizing, and maintaining critical backend systems while driving technical initiatives that align with both business goals and technical requirements.

**Backend System Development & Maintenance**:

- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services that are scalable and efficient.
- Implement new features and enhancements based on evolving business and technical requirements.
- Ensure backend systems are seamlessly integrated and perform reliably under heavy workloads.

**System Optimization & Scaling**:

- Focus on optimizing system performance, resource utilization, and task execution times.
- Leverage cloud-native technologies, such as Kubernetes, to ensure scalability and manage infrastructure effectively.

**New Feature Development & Custom Job Creation**:

- Develop and implement new features and custom job components to support changing business needs.
- Ensure the system can handle new requirements and integrate features smoothly into the existing environment.

**Deployment & Infrastructure Automation**:

- Drive improvements in system stability, minimizing downtime and ensuring seamless rollouts.

**Monitoring & Observability**:

- Implement and maintain robust monitoring systems to track performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Use observability tools like Grafana and Loki to improve system reliability and provide insights into operational health.

**Requirements**:

- Java expertise, with experience in Micronaut for developing scalable microservices and backend solutions.
- Deep understanding of backend technologies and microservices architecture.
- Proficiency with Databases like MySQL, MariaDB, and DuckDB, including design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Proven ability to optimize system performance, manage resources effectively, and improve execution times.
- Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and managing cloud-based infrastructure.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and Loki is a strong plus
- Knowledge of Kafka (nice to have).
- Front-end development skills are a plus but not required.
- Genomics domain experience is a strong plus.
