**Your Mission**

As our **Senior Software Engineer**, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and continuously improving core systems, while contributing to technical initiatives and ensuring solutions meet both business and technical requirements. The components you'll work on and own are essential to SOPHiA GENETICS’ DDM operations, enabling the processing of medical data into insights for oncologists. These components span the technology stack and enable AI algorithims processing medical data to have a real-world impact via a robust and scalable architecture. Your expertise will ensure these components not only scale effectively but also remain efficient in terms of performance and cost, while maintaining overall system health.

**System Development & Improvement/ Maintenance**:

- Develop, and continuously improve robust services that are scalable and efficient. Contribution to the design.
- Implement new features and enhancements based on evolving business and technical requirements.
- Ensure components are seamlessly integrated and perform reliably under workloads.

**System Optimization & Scaling**:

- Focus on optimizing system performance, resource utilization, and task execution times.

**New Feature Development**:

- Develop and implement new features and components to support changing business needs.
- Ensure the system can handle new requirements and integrate features smoothly into the existing environment.

**Deployment & Infrastructure Automation**:

- Contribute to improvements in system stability, minimizing downtime and ensuring seamless rollouts.

**Monitoring & Observability**:

- Implement and maintain monitoring systems to track performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Use observability tools like Grafana and Loki to improve system reliability and provide insights into operational health.

**Requirements**:

- Solid proficiency in Java for backend services and React.js for front end development skills.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture.
- Experience in optimization of system performance, manage resources effectively, and improve execution time
- esp when dealing with VERY large data volumes.
- Proficiency with databases like MySQL, MariaDB, and DuckDB, including design and query optimization.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with scalable architecture, particularly in cloud environments and containerized infrastructure.
- Experience in Micronaut for developing microservices and backend solutions is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Grafana and Loki.
- Knowledge of Kafka is a plus
- Experience in genomics is beneficial.
