Sr. Tax Manager

**Job Description Summary**: Determine and minimize the company's worldwide tax liability with the highest integrity while complying with worldwide tax laws. Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Advise business leaders of global tax strategies and business teams of deal-specific tax strategies, ensuring relevant personnel have clear and complete understanding of operational requirements for achieving tax-sensitive goals and objectives.
- Provide global commercial tax support to improve tax efficiencies and acts as a focal point to Bid Managers, Tender Controllers, Commercial Manager, Project Controllers and support functions Legal Department, Tender Control, Treasury, etc.
- Prepare financial analysis of the tax implications of various planning proposals
- Participate in tender reviews and, as needed, in the negotiations with the customers and/or the industrial partners to minimize the tax costs as well as the tax risks associated with the tender and deal structure.
- Ensure that tax advice regarding the initial contractual set-up has been properly followed. In the event that changes have occurred (either in the applicable tax law or in the industrial process), he or she will ensure that the corresponding tax impacts have been considered.
- Lead and manage the response to tax audits in France (and other jurisdictions as required). Lead discussions with tax authorities and coordinate with controllership, legal and external advisors.
- Manage group tax-related issues such as: transfer pricing, intellectual property, cost sharing, taxation of expatriates, tax planning, etc.
- Align and collaborate with Renewables Energy HQ Tax team/ GE Corporate tax on various global initiatives. Provide support and aligns with GE Corporate and external advisors, as needed, to monitor and analyze proposed and newly enacted legislation and optimize tax opportunities for the business.
- Identify and manage tax exposures and support Grid Global Tax Operation leader in maintaining accurate tax reserve positions (Fin48, FAS5).
- Educate cross-functional stakeholders on tax-sensitive issues generally. This will involve coordination with the GE Renewable Energy tax team on process tools such as tax questionnaires, country guidelines, and standardized go-to-market structures.
- Coordinate with the finance directors of the region.
- Teach tax trainings to commercial teams and non-tax resources.
- Stay current in pertinent areas and update the tax team as to legislative changes.
- Additional tax related tasks as required

**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; JD or MST or equivalent degree preferred.
- At least 8 years of tax experience that includes private law practice, accounting firm practice, Industry practice, national tax practice or a combination thereof
- Experience with managing global taxation (i.e. across multiple countries and regions) and with both direct and indirect tax
- Experience with tax planning for a multinational company.
- Experience researching/analyzing/working through complex foreign and local tax issues.
- Excellent written and presentation skills coupled with strong interpersonal and team-building capabilities across different functional areas and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage tax projects, including managing all aspects of relationships with internal and external resources is required.
- Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage a diverse portfolio of projects with competing deadlines and priorities required.
