**Main Purpose of Job**:
The Project Engineer is responsible for completing engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements. This position manages the efficient and timely use of capital to maximize resources. It will also function as project manager for plant-wide investments. This position will be a contributor to improving production methods and equipment to increase efficiency and decrease cost.

Nature and Scope of the Position

The Project Engineer determines the requirements to meet cost and efficiency requirements of the plant. This position must evaluate, develop and execute a broad spectrum of projects including project planning, feasibility studies, design, cost estimation and preparation of appropriation requests. The position is expected to continuously strive for production and cost improvements. Projects range from all areas of plant.

**Responsibilities**:
Develop and implement cost saving and business improvement ideas in a manufacturing environment

Write and submit the justification for projects

Coordinate all facets of projects from inception to completion, including definition, options analysis, detailed design, economics, scheduling, communications, procurement, contracting permitting, execution and status reporting including furnace rebuilds.

Responsible for EHS contractor compliance including contractor orientation

Responsible for precious metal inventory

Identify operational opportunities that would improve efficiency and contribute to the resolution of those opportunities.

Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.

Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.

Any other duties as assigned.

**Education and Experience**:
Knowledge Skills Required, Bachelor Degree, Engineering preferred, 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Project Engineer/manager in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of operations in a manufacturing environment. Skills/Competencies: Strong mathematical and analytical skills required: strong PC skills, AutoCAD or equivalent, strong people skills. Prefer a working knowledge of refractory materials, required metal alloys, and all facets of melter construction and construction methods including refractory assembly, melter exhaust systems, melter combustion systems, pressure control systems, melter steel work, and other support systems.
