**Role Summary**:
The Executive Counsel - IP, GE Renewable Energy will be the Legal Business Partner and Sr IP Counsel specialist to define, manage, and complete complex assignments that further the IP goals and objectives.

**Essential Responsibilities**:
As the Executive Counsel - IP, GE Renewable Energy, you will:

- Operate as an integral member of the legal leadership team
- Provide strategic guidance on the growth of patent portfolios that strengthen the business’ competitive position in key markets
- Work to secure freedom-to-practice for future technology and product roadmaps of the business
- Provide counsel to the business on licenses, collaboration agreements, and other third party transactions impacting the protection, acquisition, transfer or other disposition of IP rights
- Lead investigations into encroachments of RE’s IP rights and counsel on potential enforcement actions
- Counsel the business on evolving developments in global IP law, recommending policy / process changes
- Support the finalization of research agreements with Universities and partnership on funded research activities
- Manage a small team of IP lawyers and develop legal talent proactively
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant industries in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business from a legal standpoint and help to differentiate itself from the competition
- Work closely with other legal functional leaders to support related matters (e.g., litigation, sourcing, etc.)
- Manage overall legal budget for IP, including all outside counsel spend
- Work with other counsel in GE Renewable Energy and other GE businesses to develop best practices and strategic advice
- Support other initiatives as directed

- Conseiller la branche sur les évolutions des lois internationales relatives à l’IP, et recommander des modifications à appliquer aux processus / réglementations le cas échéant, pour atteindre les objectifs de la branche et améliorer son efficacité
- Participation à la finalisation des accords de recherche avec les universités et des partenariats sur les activités de recherche financées
- Gérer une petite équipe d’avocats spécialisés dans le domaine de l’IP et développer les talents juridiques de manière proactive
- Maintenir une connaissance approfondie des secteurs concernés afin d
