- About the Role:
- Handling Paris claims on various lines of business (mainly Financial Lines, Casualty, PI, Fine Art & Specie) through all stages from initial notification to conclusion including recording claims on relevant systems, coverage analysis, liability and quantum assessment, establishing and monitoring appropriate reserves and making claims payments as required.
- About the Department & Team:
- Creation of a claims handler position in order to support the team in Paris portfolio development.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Handling of claims emanating from the Paris book (a mix of primary/excess and lead/follow) from initial notification to resolution with optimal service and results (including drafting coverage letters and internal reports as appropriate) with reference to the Paris Claims Manager and European Claims Manager where necessary.
- Working with relevant service suppliers, including external legal counsel, adjusters and other external representatives;
- Providing support to the Paris and London Third Party Underwriting teams, Actuaries and Senior Management including advising on claims related information, drafting and/or approving policy wordings and endorsements, updating on legal trends, attending pre-inception/renewal/claims review meetings as required and undertaking legal reporting to LSM’s outward reinsurers (including through participation in audits);
- Ensuring full compliance by the Paris Claims team with all LSM stipulated global and local operating protocols, procedures and policies, LSM service standards and FSA and SOX regulatory compliance;
- Ensuring effective, prompt and correct claims transaction processing and identifying and implementing day to day operational procedures to improve the claims handling process and/or control or improve cost efficiency;
- Actively participate in and contribute as a member of the team on cross-functional initiatives and innovations;
- Relationship building, developing LSM market recognition and promoting the LSM brand (including participation in industry conferences/committees, both by way of attendance and/or presentation, market meetings, meetings with brokers and insureds to discuss trends and developments or in the context of an existing claim and assisting Underwriters in their marketing efforts).
- Any other matter necessary for the functioning of the Paris Claims team and LSM Claims Department.Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM's commitment to our Liberty Values, placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. - Experience in specialty claims handling;
- Good knowledge of insurance regulations (insurance and civil law);
- Strong written and oral English language skills;
- Organizational, interpersonal and relationship building skills;
- Good analytical and oral/written presentation skills;
- Negotiation skills;
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team;
- Self-motivated and dynamic;
