**General Context**
The OPHELIA project, developed in collaboration with five partners (CNR, Nexans, Schneider Electric, SNCF and SuperGrid Institute), focuses on the electrical architecture of linear photovoltaic parks (Press release). For this project, SuperGrid Institute is developing a digital twin of a 1MW solar power plant in a medium-voltage direct current (MVDC) network.
As its name suggests, a digital twin consists of recreating, in a virtual environment, the behavior of a real installation. This allows us to test new features of the solar power plant (start-up, protection, power limitation, etc.) before deployment on site, safely and at a lower cost.
An additional specificity is that our digital twin is executed in “real time” (one second elapsed in reality corresponds exactly to one second in the simulated environment). Respecting this time rule makes it possible to connect control hardware to simulated equipment (technical term HIL for « Hardware In the Loop »).

**Missions**
As part of the C&P prototyping and HIL validation group, you will participate in developing the digital twin of the OPHELIA projects. Main scope:
- To develop DC/DC converters models using Matlab/Simulink/SimPowerSystem.
- To integrate, in a Matlab/Simulink environment, DC/DC converter controllers developed on PLC and microcontrollers (technical term SIL for « Software In The Loop »).
- To test the models and the controls developped (performing a comparative analysis with other models).
- To connect the different DC/DC converters to communicate in a MODBUS TCP/IP grid.
Depending on the project’s progress, new tasks may be considered in the development of the control strategy test bench of OPHELIA MVDC network.
The end of the internship will coincide with the start-up of the solar power plant on its site in Caderousse (Vaucluse), scheduled for July 2025. The first weeks of production can provide some feedback on our digital twin and will allow us to further improve it.
Master’s or Engineering student (4th or 5th year) with Electrical engineering profile and technical basics in control and power electronics.
Knowledge in C programming language, automation and would be appreciated.
Good level in English
