Economic and Commercial Specialist

**Duties**:
The position serves as the primary point of contact for Mission France for promotion of U.S. economic and commercial diplomacy across American Presence post (APP) Rennes' area of responsibility. The position is responsible for monitoring, analyzing and contributing to reports on regional political developments. In addition, job holder fulfills numerous administrative duties, and performs back-up emergency American Citizen Services (ACS) work. Job holder serves as back up to the Public Diplomacy Specialist in dealing with local media, coordinating social media, and in implementing all cultural functions as appropriate. Job holder assists with long-term planning and implementation of official high-level visiting delegations. Serves as an APP Rennes principal point of contact for developing and maintaining positive relations with sub-national government entities across the reporting district, including engagement with political leadership at all levels. Identifies important and emerging nongovernmental organizations and develops and maintains relationships with these organizations to advance Mission strategic objectives.

APP Rennes covers Normandy, Brittany, and the Pays de la Loire - an area larger than Portugal with a population of almost 11 million people. APP Rennes' district includes two of the largest cities in France, several major research universities, a high concentration of France's energy sector, multiple French military command elements, one of France's most influential newspapers, as well as the D-Day beaches and American military cemeteries in Normandy and Brittany. Mission France is an overseas staffing model (OSM) 5+ mission with five constituent posts, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive in the world, with complex, diverse bilateral and multilateral policy issues.

**Qualifications and Evaluations**:

- Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Six years of experience in a business environment.
- **Must have a valid, current French driver's license for Permis B and have had a valid driver's license for a minimum of 5 years.**

- **Must be able to qualify to complete Smith Driver Training**
- **To work after hours and weekends on a fairly regular basis is required**

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Paris, France may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

**SALARY**: the **annual gross salary includes**:

- the profit sharing allowance,
- the vacation allowance,
- the bonus allowance
- and the “Comité d’Entreprise” allowance.

**MEAL TICKETS**: Meal tickets have a face value of EUR 8.25/day.

60% of the daily amount is paid by the USG. An employee contribution of EUR 3.30 per ticket will be deducted by CGFS through the FSN payroll system. The number of meal tickets is limited to 202 workdays per year.

**TRANSPORTATION**:The Mission provides a transportation allowance to employees who are scheduled to work at least 17.5 hours per week are eligible for a reimbursement of 50% of the cost of public transportation passes purchased for commuting purposes.

Employees who are scheduled to work less than 17.5 hours per week are eligible for a prorated reimbursement of the cost of public transportation passes purchased for commuting purposes. Proration is based on the number of hours worked in a week compared to half a full-time workweek, i.e., 17.5 hour

**HOLIDAYS**: The U.S. Missions in France observe eleven U.S. holidays per year and up to ten French holidays.
