**About the Role**

In your role as Senior General Valuer, you will be required to carry out the following:
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Valuation management
- Producing valuations for sale, and formal appraisals for probate and insurance purposes in France.
- Be the point of contact in France for all estimation requests coming from the Bonhams systems and make sure valuations are produced in due time with the quality standard expected.
- Providing valuations at clients’ homes, at Bonhams, and other premises.
- Participate or run in some cases the client relationship.
- Liaise with specialists (60 expertise departments at Bonhams) in order to get estimates and integrate their notes in the valuation system.
- Work with valuation colleagues in Europe and UK on international valuations.
- Promote the services offered by the valuation department to clients, suggest communication or events to give more visibility to new clients.

2. Valuation sourcing
- Develop with the local management and head of valuation France all network art intermediaries (notaries, insurance companies, family offices lawyers etc) and participate to all events.
- Sourcing goods for sale and negotiating with clients wishing to sell mainly in France but also in continental Europe if needed or for export outside the EU.
- Source new valuations by using his network and develop it.
- Contact former clients to offer updates of old valuations.

3. Collection valuation and project coordination
- Participate to taskforce around collection valuation and sale.
- As a General Valuer you will need to take full responsibility for the management, completion and delivery of your Valuation projects to your clients.
- You may also be required and value items consigned to our decorative art auctions.

5. Be an auctioneer for live sales, charity sales in France if you are an auctioneer.

**Key Skills and Attributes**
- Generalist or/and auctioneer background with 7/15 years of experience in an auction house based in France.
- Very good knowledge of decorative arts and works of art for authentication, research and estimates.
- Good knowledge of values and trends within the auction world.
- A ‘can-do’ team player, proactive and with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
- You are comfortable working both alone and in collaboration as part of a wider team
- An adaptable and personable approach - you will be as comfortable in a warehouse as a manor house or in the office (either avenue hoche or at our warehouse).
- High quality customer services in the production of verbal and written valuations for sale, probate and insurance. Attention to quality of work delivered.
- Great communication skills and charisma, very good team player and managements skills.French and English fluency, a third language is a plus.
