Head of Tax Reporting

The purpose of the role is to support the Head of Tax, HBCE in the calculation of all indirect and direct taxes and supports the submission of the returns/declarations to tax authorities. It supports the Group and Regional Tax reporting in leading the reporting and forecasting of taxes for its perimeter. The role holder will also help in the external and internal audits by providing requisite information as required. Ad hoc support will also be required on other HBCE and group-wide projects.

Detail Responsibilities include:

- Preparation of tax disclosures for the France and Group Annual Report and Accounts, including ensuring that controls over the tax reporting process are applied. Also contribute to the other Senior management committee including Audit Committee with requisite information/pack on tax matters
- Monthly Tax accounting and reporting for the HBCE Tax group for Corporate income tax and Deferred tax. It includes direct taxes (Corporate Income Tax and other French Taxes, CVAE, CFE, etc.) and indirect taxes (withholding taxes and VAT). Also responsible for the payments of installments of these taxes
- Submission of VAT returns/declarations and calculation of VAT Prorata with support from DAF (Tax Department) and implement the changes in accounting/reporting.
- Preparation of the Annual tax returns as per the instruction of the DAF team and support on other Regulatory returns (EBA and PRA Stress reports, etc.)
- Building transfer pricing documentation for intercompany transactions
- Running the production and review of all financial reporting of the tax perimeter entities. The deliverables encompass: P&L and actual balance sheet with the needed granularity.
- Building Packs for the Review, challenge and Sign off meeting with Financial Controller, Head of Financial Accounting and Chief Financial Officer.
- Leading the implementation of the strategic decision of migration of production activities to KPMG for low to medium tasks.
- Playing Integral role in ongoing process design and development, in particular with the use of technology to improve efficiency and reduce risk
- Building cordial relations with Stakeholders including External by promptly responding on queries and attending all meetings or workshops and sharing relevant information as needed.
- Managing medium sized team including hiring, performance/talent management, succession planning and reward and recognition.
- Developing an in depth understanding of technical accounting and reporting requirements, covering P&L, On and Off-Balance Sheet.
- Completing detailed analysis over complex data sets and driving remediation activities.
- Understanding complex systems and data flows between systems.
- Supporting senior stakeholders in the review and sign-off of monthly/quarterly deliverables.
- Maintaining a strong control environment, and coordinating reviews by Assurance and auditors.
- Supporting Finance Change on ad hoc projects and their impact on financial reporting deliverables.

Requirements

Knowledge and experience / qualifications (Minimum requirements for the role - not the role holder.)
- Qualified accountant or Bachelor’s degree in Finance and either Chartered Tax Adviser or considerable experience of corporate tax
- Strong analytical skills
- Good communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, including the ability to explain complex issues succinctly to people who are not tax experts
- Ability to identify the need for, and drive, process change (including the use of new technology)
- Ability to work well within a team and to manage competing deliverables within tight timelines
- Experience in medium size company, preferably a Bank.
- Experience working in relevant environments, i.e. financial, regulatory reporting experience required
- Strong skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel with skill in handing and controlling operational data and complex data sets
- Both French Language and English Language skills
