Compliance ensures that effective systems and controls are in place to manage risk across HSBC and to ensure that the organisation meets with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements. As risk steward, Compliance plays a second line of defence role, setting policy and guidelines for managing risks and provides advice and guidance to the business. This ensures HSBC's compliance to both global and local laws and rules and regulations.

This role has a broad remit and responsibilities in supporting the HBCE Head of Compliance CMB and ultimately the HBCE Regional Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) in providing oversight and management of all aspects of Compliance Risk in HBCE for the Global Liquidity and Cash Management (GLCM) product line, but role will also support on CMB product advisory as well.

The role forms part of the HBCE Compliance team which has oversight for France as well branches: Greece, Ireland, Czech Republic, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Spain, Sweden.

The role holder will be a dedicated point of contact on FCC and RC queries in relation to GLCM as well as CMB, as such:

- Ensure timely and accurate advice to the relevant stakeholders, such as contacts in Branches as well as the GLCM/CMB business.
- Work closely with the wider Compliance teams in branches or regionally in order to provide assistance in the management of the control framework (updated policies and procedures, training, etc.)
- Responsible for reviewing the Risk and Control Assessments (RCAs) for all Compliance Risks across GLCM.
- Ensure development of a thorough knowledge of the CMB products and the associated compliance risks associated to those products.
- Support the new product governance process and growth strategy by reviewing new and existing products and providing the Compliance assessment of the risks and controls
- Provide back-up support to the HBCE GTRF (Trade Finance) lead on transactional activity as well as reviews of Products and Services when required
- Ad-hoc tasks as requested by the HBCE Head of Compliance CMB
- Foster and maintain good relationships with the local and regional Compliance (Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions, ABC, Conduct, Regulatory Affairs, etc) and various GLCM, CMB, GBM business representatives
- Escalate and report timely adverse consequences arising from breaches/issues with remedial action initiated in line with the materiality of the risk/issue

Control

They should exhibit leadership and direction to their teams for establishing and maintaining an effective internal control environment, including the development and management of policies and procedures where appropriate. Managers should also ensure that suitable processes are put in place to review and oversight that internal control environment against those policies.
