Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Property Underwriter in our Property team in Paris.

Our Property Underwriting team keeps growing, and we are looking for our next team member in Paris.

This role will work closely with the Head of Property for France focusing on the development and expansion of our client and broker relationships, as well as supporting for the acceleration of profitable growth and retention in achieving profitability targets, in line with our local, regional and global strategies.

What you’ll be doing:

- Contribute to the growth and profitability of Sompo International Property portfolio by actively sourcing submissions

- Analyse submissions, policy wordings, technical reports to assess exposures - Analyse underwriting information and ensure appropriate terms and conditions are secured in line with the Sompo Property Underwriting Strategy
- Meet and negotiate with clients and brokers to build relationships and to develop new and renewal business
- Contribute to build a well-diversified and balanced book in terms of risk profile and segmentation
- Perform contract negotiation, attending and travelling to client meetings, presentations to customers and conducting underwriting reviews
- Effectively interact, communicate and negotiate with all levels of external and/or internal business partners (such as Distribution, Claims, Operations, Finances).
- Support marketing efforts, creating high quality, original solutions to enhance the reputation and market presence of Sompo.

What you’ll bring:

- 10+ years of experience working in underwriting position in Property (and ideally Energy) in France
- Deep technical knowledge of Property exposures.
- Strong expertise in international large Corporate and heavy industry risk underwriting (ideally including energy) of global insurance programs

- Good network within the French broker and inhouse risk manager Community. - Language skills: English; French.
- Willingness to travel internationally as require
