**Description**:
Within the framework of the benchmark on numerical modelling of landslides (initiation part), the Laboratory GEOMAS - Geomechanics, Materials, Structures is looking for a trainee.
**Context**:Probably because of global warming, we are witnessing extreme weather events compared with historical knowledge. In France's mountainous regions, this is reflected in an increase in the number of landslide events. These severe events damage transport infrastructures (roads, railroads) and endanger people living in areas exposed to gravity hazards. Within this context, several players working in the fields of geosciences and soil mechanics have joined forces within the Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne INDURA/ I-Risk competitiveness cluster. With a view to improving the prevention of gravity-related risks, the question of modeling choices and the evolution of numerical tools towards more realistic models arose. A benchmark is currently being carried out to identify the tools available and how they are used by engineers and researchers. Three French sites were selected for this three-part benchmark:
- initiation
- propagation
- initiation-propagation transition
**Missions**
- Calibration of the model based on a direct parameters identification and on a back-analysis approach
- Realization of a hydro-mechanical model (finite elements) on 2D sections of the unstable mass
- Validation of simulations on geophysical, hydrogeological, and geotechnical data
- Numerical simulations of the effect of recharge/drainage, and topographic modification on the stability and the deformation fields of the unstable mass.
